Rosses Point

#1 Post by beebub2 »

Heading for Rosses Point in Sligo for a weekend in March. I probably won't have much time to fish but will bring my rod just in case. If I could slip away for an hour or two, anyone any recommendations as to where's a good place to fish around there? I'll be staying in Cromleach Lodge and I don't know the area at all.

Hard fishing up there at the best of times, and March is probably one of the worst months. Bit early for summer specides and getting late for coalies, whiting and coddling. THe flounder should be making a comeback. If I had a choice I would try Strandhill beach, if your insisting on Rosses point, I would try in front of the Yacht Club into the channel or 300yards further up the estuary where the channel comes in close at the marker. THe beach like many beaches up there is very hit and miss. You don't get many reports.

Thanks for that. I'm not hell bent on anywhere in particular; just somewhere to fish. :D

Actually, I've just seen that the hotel is right on Lough Arrow. I understand this is entirely different type of fishing to shore. But have you ever fished Lough Arrow?
