shimano fixed spools
currently using a baitrunner 4500b for about 18 months, still perfect and a good reel.only problem is spare spools are pricey. Getting a new reel soon and after reading on a recent thread that with some of the shimano models you can get 2 spare spools as standard. Has any of you guys out there used all 4 of these shimano reels....ultrega,aerlex,navi and baitrunner and which did you think was the best out of the 4

Re: shimano fixed spools
For the areas i know you fish, go for the aerlex - retrieve is very solid, line capacity is good and you can get a decent cast from it. The ultegra is also very good, the reason it is more expensive is the fact that you will get a longer cast from it.

seen them firebloods , pricey but fine bit of kit. defo better getting some fine engineering that will last rather then 4 cheap equivelents over the same period of time

Re: shimano fixed spools
i use an aero gt 6000 baitrunner for light beach work and bass fishing its a mighty bit of kit ,the bait runner drag can be adjusted from near freespool to about 20lb of drag very handy if bass fishing and you need to put your rod down for a few minutes ,no fear of it heading out to sea great line lay for braid ,and a very smooth main drag AAA1 reel

that last a season at most, just like to have a spare spool or two for different line options at da beach.

Re: shimano fixed spools
I got a Biomaster early last year and I was so happy with it that I got another for Christmas.
I got mine in Gerry's and the price has come down since.
http://www.gerrysfishing.com/shop_detai ... 67&tabID=1
It came with a 6500, a 7500 and a 8500 spool.
I think the postage was about £10 so between the reel and postage it should still come to less then 100 Euros.

Re: shimano fixed spools
cheers for all the replys lads. One thing of note is there is not one negative comment on any of these reels so tip of the hat to shimano. Looks like I'm going to have to cancel "her royal highnesses" valentines pressies and buy 7 different shimano reels .
