Re: Dark side c/o Lee Andrews
Sorry lads, call me stupid but where was the sea? I know it's probably a whole different story and I just wouldn't understand. Maybe these lads live a long way from the sea but would they not just go fishing at the sea side instead. A big field in the midlands isn't going to produce much no matter how far you can cast!?
Maybe I'm just a gob..ite who hasn't a clue but I've said it now.

Excellent Video. My complements lads.....really well put together.
On another note, who do I need to bribe for a couple of your monomag units? I really like the oversize wheel.

Re: Dark side c/o Lee Andrews
Learned more about line control and style than in any other casting clip! Just brilliant, and dramatically cut too with a great soundtrack as underlay, must be the best one I have ever seen recently! Hats off

Re: Dark side c/o Lee Andrews
Hi Ya Stephen,
These guys are top tournament casters who only cast over grass purely for distance reasons, no fish required.
Not possible to measure how far your lead went in the water.
You get wet and drown!
Great Vid though all the same.

Re: Dark side c/o Lee Andrews
Steve,
We do fish and put into practice on the water what we do on the field.

The thing is that you have to know what you are doing to be 100% confident when you hit the beach etc. and then its 100% fun

Lads class video and great sound track
i have a few questions on casting
I know that all ye tournament casters use multipliers BUT do any of ye use fixed spools??
What kinda range are you getting with them ??
What rod/reel do the top guys use ??
before i even try to do Tournament casting what type of distance would i need to be hitting ??
Thanks in advance
Danny

Re: Dark side c/o Lee Andrews
Danny ,
For tournament casting you just need it to go past the oche , what I mean by this is that it is about improving yourself and enjoying doing that. If you are able to get it further than some of the others thats just an added bonus and allows for some bragging rights
In regards to using a fixed spool that is not an issue as some very impressive distances are achieved with these .
Here is a video clip of some of the Australian guys using threadline whilst casting level line ( Braid with no leader )
http://au.youtube.com/watch?v=9KL6H2fdhDk
Also this one of Scott Selby , rod used on this occasion is the Zziplex XTr 50/50 same guide spacing as he uses for the multiplier.
http://au.youtube.com/watch?v=xFzVZ9iOCsA
Hopefully this gets you interested in getting down with the others and having a bit of fun and a good laugh.
Regards

Re: Dark side c/o Lee Andrews
Guys ,
regardsing the mono mag set ups they are ones we put together using simple nutt serts and the wheels are just leggo car wheels stuck over the nuts.
Simple and inexpensive
You just need to be carefull that you select a strong enough magnet to give you the breaking at the begining of the cast.

Paul Mason and Sam Roach both use fixed spool aswell as milti.
What kinda range are you getting with them ??
Paul has the Irish 150G record of 227yds.
World champ Danny Moescops has cast over 270yds using them.
check out the UKSF all comers records:

What rod/reel do the top guys use ??
Its all down to a personal choice, rods-Zziplex/Century/Conoflex, reels im not sure of..?
I know Sam recently got some top notch Daiwa,s and not sure what Paul uses, im sure he will come on and fill you in.
before i even try to do Tournament casting what type of distance would i need to be hitting ??
It doesnt matter, as Jeremy said its all about learning and havin the crack while doing so, everyone has to start somewhere.
