age old question tried a lot myself and have too agree with the grauvell hard too beleive that I bought one years ago as a combo with a multi and never used the rod for ages, it was sitting in my bedroom looking at me while I searched for a good mixed ground rod I have always fished two rods and as this was a single rod/reel purchase I never bothered bring it with me until on day I was on the clifs of howth mackerl bashing trying out this rod for the first time after a few casts too set my 6500 ct mag I started too let rip I couldn't beleive the proformance of this baby was doing masive casts so much so that I wasn't bothered with the fishing, but the real test came fishing heavy beachs the rod still had no probs hicking in weed even pulled up full houses of macks from the clifs in kilkee with this baby no probs strong as steel and without compramise on bit dectection one of my fav all round rods used it everywhere.
I do suggest that you try out some rods yourself and dont get dazzeled by names you have a good buget and if you find the right rod its worth every penny because you will use it.

I will check out the full discription on my rod and let you know.

bryan thats a pretty big budget for a rod and headlamp. have a look in belfast angling they have a good selection of headlamps. They also have a cracking conoflex in there for half price. A conoflex balance rated for 5 - 6oz. I thinks it works out £140.
I got an princeton Apex headlamp for £40, an amazing headlamp, the batteries last for ever as well.
