smooth hound around the south coast

#1 Post by beachbuddy »

Hi all,
possibly a waste of time but here goes.Do smooth hound show around the sw coast or are they purely caught on the east coast down to wexford.I've heard a few rumours lately but not sure if my source was telling the truth or a few porkeys.
If they do show what would the best tactics be in order to have a chance of a hook up.

Hello marlinman .
I thought they were confined to the east coast from wexford , until I was speaking to a guy on Tramore beach during last summer and he was after catching two that night up to 5lb on peeler crab.
After speaking to other anglers around Waterford they have been caught up to 10lbs . During spells of calm weather of corse.
I dont have any idea how far west they travel tho!
If I'm not gonna catch a fish , I may aswell not catch a BIG fish !
