17/01/09 Greystones, Steps behind La Touche

#1 Post by sadact »

*People:SadAct, Millbank, Junior

Duration:3:00pm - 12:00am

Tide:Falling

Weather:a bit wild...........

Bait:Squid, Sand Eel, Razor, Wraps, All Baits Frozen

Rigs:Pulley Pennel, 2 Hook Flapper

Results:Whiting, Whiting, Whiting

Report:
Really felt the need to get our lines wet as we missed last weekends session. Due to the weather conditions, we opted for the shelter of the steps at Greystones. The sea was a tad lumpy and there was a bit of a breese blowing. Eventually started picking up the whiting as darkness set in.
It was impossible to see any bites for the first half of the session, however, by about 6pm things calmed down well and the fish decided to come on the feed. No codling yet, heres hoping we pick some up next week.
All but 1 whiting were returned, did not bother taking any pics of the fish, we've all seen too many whiting so far this year I think you would agree............

modest understatement, to say the least, fair play lads for even getting a line wet  8)

Your telling me, I had the misfortune of being on a ferry from Holyhead to Dublin yesterday afternoon, its the roughest crossing I've been on in a while. Gusts to 110mph and swells to 7 metres

You guys did well to brave it though, even if it was from the relative safety of the shore

know the feeling shamoo0804, myself and a few pals had a lucky escape on the St Killian II a couple of years back on a late October sailing from Le Havre to Rosslare when a big swell from force 12 winds at the mouth of the channel cleared the entertainment deck at at around 2am. We were all in there about 20 mins earlier, finishing our drinks...
was a nice vessel at the time: http://www.simplonpc.co.uk/StenaScandin ... chor643330
