look for a Abu Garcia Ambassadeur 6501,the 6501 is the left hand version of the 6500
i think any Abu Garcia with a 1 in the number is a left hand version of that reel

The Abu's will do for clean ground fishing and the Okuma would be a little tougher and handle the heavier lines a bit better. Not too much heavier though as it doesn't have a huge spool capacity. The Okuma would be a little cheaper though.

cheer's Kev' i have looked at a few types of reels, but i'm still drawn towards the okuma.
it states that the line capacity is slighty less than a 525, and recond this should do the job for me, for i will also be loading the reel with braid....

Will you be using Braid behind your mono as a running line? I love the abu's but mainly for very clean ground. They need a little TLC as well, but once you get the hang of them they are easy to strip and clean. For the money you can't go wrong with the Okuma.

thinking of complete fill of 20lb braid with 60lb shock leader, recond that should do the job..

Having barid all the way through has it's issues, but I believe that Donal uses it often. If you hit weed or a snag the extra Pressure as you reel in can cause the braid to "cut into" the braid underneath...... Then during your next cast the braid doesn't release correctly and you get a nice birdie. Worth thinking about. Those that use briad for it's bite detection tend to use it with fixed spools...... Were getting a little off topic and onto something I know little about personally, but I'm sure some of the other lads will chime in.

with reguards to braid on multies it does work if you use the right kind of braid ie not a sticky one i use 20 lb mono followed by 150 yards of 30 lb braid and shockleader , dont put it on a 525 its a no go abu sports mag work,s great ,dont run it too quick though

too thin for a multi gruavel do a grey braid thats good ive used tigerbraid and penn dynabraid stay away from superbraids on multies they are way too thin and the coatings on them dont make life easy if you do have problems with line digging in when its new use a slow crisscross to put the line on the spool rather than cottonspool fashion ,it takes a few sessions to work braid in ,i get up to two years from a fill ,its great for clean ground but stick with mono for rough ground fishing

thanks for that rodger, have been useing the spiderwire for years on the F/S and have had no problems with it. but like you say it would be to thin for for use with the multi; i was looking at that penn dynabraid, so i might go for that, cheer's mate.....
