Is the east coast that bad

#1 Post by Pat S »

I have been away from sea angling for a number of years and have started again. I have been fishing mainly around Greystones to Newcastle and have been really disappointed with the fishing. I have had some dogs codling and other small bits but it has been a lot of work for little result. Are anglers now happy catching undersize fish

Patience or travel would be my advice to you. Get over to the West or down to Waterford/Wexford/Cork for the next month or so. Seems to die off a bit around these parts at this time of year. Look at last years posts and the scarcity of posts this year for the East coast.

There are fish around, the challenge is finding them. I've been trying some new marks lately and blanked. Went down to Cork and had loads!

Thanks for reply. Have Fished Shannon area in the summer and again at the end of Sep but tend to do most of my fishing within a 90 min drive of Kildare. Wexford Waterford are possibles any good starting points would be appreciated.

Hi Pat,
I suggest you register and use the search facility in the bulletin board. Also check the marks page on the main site. It should help you no end.
Cheers

Being from the West coast I like fishing the East coast whenever I get the chance.

The fishing is much different to what im used to as everything has to be scaled down smaller hooks and swivels lighter line.

I fished a few competitions and enjoy the speed fishing as your kept going all night reeling in fish.

I find the lug tipped with a small strip of mackerel or sandeel best when fishing competitions on the east coast.

There are some steep beaches on the west coast which provide similar fishing to the east coast but they are hard to get to.................
