I use mono mostly because I use mutis alot of the time but I have a fix spool with 30lb braid If I am fishing for flatties or whiting or other small speices . But for normal fish I use mono because it is more forgiving but nowadays you can get mono with very little streaght like uitma F1 which has very low diameter for casting. Hope it helps
i use mono for multi's but have a fixed spool that i have braid on and use it for light beach work and spinning, and seem to get more hook-ups with it than i used to when using mono..

I still use mono on my multi's but for all my lure fishing and some light shore fishing I use braid. The directness of braid is fantastic and its thinner diameter helps it cast much better that the equivalent mono but I still have enough problems casting with multi's using mono to even think about switching over to braid.
Some good advice there lads, cheers. I haven't yet used braid and was wondering what would be a middle of the road braided line to go on a fixed spool spinnig reel?
