what did i catch?
lads i need some help to identifiy a fish, and its not an exotic foreign fish either, few months ago i foul hooked what i thought was my first bass at collimore, then after eating the evidence my missus warned me that i have no longer to bring home mackrel but that geourgeous bass, in hindsight i am beginning to wonder if it is a bass or could it be an elusive mullet
unfortunatly i cant download the photo to the forum as its too big so if you wouldnt mind having a look at the gallery on the 2nd page you should find 3 photos for brows79, its not the dog or flatfish photos, maybe you could have a look and tell me so i can scratch it of my species list, thanks a lot lads

deffo a mullet, and you'd want to be sure where you are fishing has clean water, mullet do eat shite after all. i'm being seirous here, they do feed on what comes out the end of sewage pipes.

Re: what did i catch?
mullet. i've caught them locally there too - mind you that was when there was still crab and lobster pots on the go there and they'd feed on the offal used as bait (like at bulloch). i can't recall if there's a functioning sewage outlet nearby - probably - but you could console yourself that it might be coming from bono's house...
they are slow growers too, you'd be as well off returning them. otherwise, why sell yourself short? say it's a sea trout.

Re: what did i catch?
According to the Marks and Spencers Sea Food Bible. Grey Mullet (no relation to red mullet, didnt know that!!) Looks and tastes similiar to sea bass! So simple mistake, If I ever catch either Im sure Ill be on the forum in the morning! and hopefully not on the toilet!
