NEW COMPETITION FORMAT (PLEASE READ)

#1 Post by stevecrow74 »

NEW FORMAT

NEW RULES AS FOLLOWS:

each person gets his own thread containing photo's of fish with a few details of where when and how caught
if a person wishes to fish both shore and boat competitions then use two separate threads..

thread subject has to be in format: username ( comp type ) e.g. stevecrow74 (shore), petekd (boat) etc etc

photo's of fish must be clearly identifiable and part of shore or boat must also be identifiable where possible

open to all members who joined the forum before or on 2nd January 2010 (new competition format date)

competitors need only post one photo per fish species, and as many photo's per post

this format gives everyone an equal chance of winning..
if a tie breaker is needed then its down to the person who caught the most species the earliest in the year

keep user threads clear from banter by posting comments in the 'competition discussion and banter 09' thread

please make sure you have your camera/phone time and date set correctly, other wise the photo will be removed from your thread into a sinbin of sorts

for the people fishing the boat comp...

this is not a per boat, but per person competition, it doesn't matter what boat you are on, just as long as you are on a boat

so thread for boat is same as shore as in username followed by comp type...
e.g. stevecrow74 (boat) or stevecrow74 (shore)

Thanks for fixing mine too, I only saw this post after I had posted in the old thread. I'm liking the new format btw, I think its a great idea, should be much fairer and also easier to follow.

thats what i'm hoping too...

it also means that everyone has a chance of catching a species, its the ones that put in a special effort to catch as many as they can that will be rewarded.. also a good way of getting people out there to see if they can catch as many species as they can  which should really make this interesting :D

One other thing. To make it easy for Steve and I, as you post more photos to your thread could you include the total number of species so far in your post.

eg
first post

.
.
.
(Total 3)

second post
.
.
(Total 5)

etc

The date and time is stamped on the photograph by the camera and the admin can check this to make sure pics are legit.

Here is my rant on this species hunt. Why not take out the top prize in it and restrict it to species caught in club competitions only, boat and shore. This might encourage club members to make a greater effort to turn out for competitions
Specimen Fish 2024: Shore Rockling (3) 36cm, 34cm, 31cm; Thick Lipped Mullet (2) 58cm, 57cm; Smooth Hound (1) 109cm; Sting Ray (1)125cm; Ballan Wrasse (1) 48cm ; Corkwing Wrasse (1) 24.8cm. Golden Grey Mullet (2) 43cm, 1.8lb; 40.6cm, 1.55lb;
Total species boat/shore: 45
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Specimen Fish 2025: To date: 6.
Flounder 46cm; Spurdog 120cm; Stingray 91cm; Smooth Hound 114cm; 103.5cm; 104cm

Because:
A) not everyone is a member of a club (either boat or shore)
B) not everyone can make it to club competitions
c) this is a species comp open to all members of the site(prior to 2009)
D) limiting this comp to only entitle club competitions will reduce the number of species listed in this comp
E) not everyone who fishes a competition seriously will want to wait around for someone to take a photo or take a photo of a fish when there is precious fishing to be done
F) it is up to the club's to encourage members to fish the competitions ( see point B )
G) this is a competition to get people to target as many species as possible that they would not normally target, in a normal club competition members will only target what is the most prominant species for that location.
