PSECIES HUNT - 1st Dab and (suprise suprise), 1st whiting

#2 Post by shamoo0804 »

Sorry Steve, had to post this is a new topic as it appears that the proper hunt page is locked....your probably not out of bed yet  must have been a good night.

Please move it to the right section when you get a chance, thanks

1st dab and 1st whiting, caught on Greystones north beach, between 5am and 7am this morning. Perfect way to ward off the impending hangover - freezing cold, sea spray etc.

Sorry for the poor quality pics, used my phone which doesnt have a flash.

2 pics of each fish.

Caught plenty more whiting, was suprised I couldnt get a rockling, coalie or flounder though, but maybe thats just cause to get out again later today :D

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO YOU ALL

mann, its not really the right place, but stevecrow has the proper thread locked at the moment. I guess he did that to stop people posting too early.

He'll be outta bed soon I'm sure so can unluck the appropriate thread and with a bit of luck he'll move this to the right one then :D

You set the bar high last year eric, gotta get some points in early I reckon.

I be back out in an hour hoping for a few more species, I want 5 by the end of the day, just need to decide where is going to give me my best chance :?

Would that little rockpool near you be worth a shot for some mini-species?

its worth a shot, i'd say the end of the west pier dun laoghaire, youl catch just about anything, mostly small fair but a good chance of poor cod, coalies, pouting, codling and mini's down the wall, go forth!!

welcome to a new competition.. people follow the rules please....... pics HAVE to be attached in the same post...

Post a pic of your fish with where, when and how you caught it and any other details you like.
Fish must be identifiable.
A part of the shore must be identifiable in the picture i.e. waterline beach etc, etc.
other wise the fish will not count
Do not post saying pic to follow- i will delete the post.

Ah, I see you dragged yourself outta bed to unlock the correct post then steve.

Oh, and thanks for not shifting my catch report to the correct thread

Good job nobodyelse beat me to the punch

Goodluck everybody, as you say mann, its a good excuse (if we needed one) to get out a bit more, and it will be fun to target stuff you'd not usually go after

Dab and whiting caught on a 3 hook clipped down rig - the 1st bite was registered @ 5:19.47am, I left it for a short while to ensure the fish was hooked, then noticed a 2nd bite @ 5:21.14am, reeled in and beached the (double) catch at 5:22.01am.

Is that precise enough for you

Should I continue with my catches on my later session.....
