Locations near Kilmore

#1 Post by fred funk }{ »

A buddy and myself are down towards Kilmore on Saturday in search of the elusive Codling or anything else that swims TBH :D
Can anyone recommend any decent spots that are fairly close to each other because we may try a few different locations if we're on a blank. Beech fishing is preferable and any tips on tackle/bait is greatly appreciated.
We will be there from probably midday and into the night so we will be fishing the through the tides.

Cheers

myself and eric(the legend) have had some bass and nice coalies down that way over the last week so don,t give up too easy !! you could try a mark before kilmore quay i fished this time last year ,head for kilmore quay but when you get to kilmore village (a few miles before kilmore quay) turn leftjust before the post office, head down this road and take the first right this will bring you down to a nice sandy beach with parking nearly on the beach ,fish at the big boulder(you cant miss it  )i got nice flounder, coalies and two small bass on it last year in two hours fishing so worth a shot (all fish in close and flounder under your feet!)
good luck where ever you go

That beach roger is talking about is ballyhealy beach, i live just up the road there, it would be worth a shot alright, it has been fishing steady the last few months, also rosdoonstown, the whitehole, or the coombe around carne would be worth a shot if your feeling more adventerous. As roger said flounder, coalies and chance of a bass or codling its handy enough fishing there aswell.
I'll pm ya my number feel free to gimme a buzz. A bit of lug there or razor and peeler if you can get it would be the job.
Long time no sea.

Thanks lads, great advice. Nothing like a bit of local knowledge Cormology. Are these places relatively safe for the cars because we dont like leaving the cars when we're worried about them.
Really appreciate the replies lads, cheers :D

Plenty of piers etc to fish where you can fish out of the car if it makes you feel better.
Kilmore,Arthurstown,Ballyhack etc.

Most if not all wexford beaches you can park close to the beach BUT you will NOT be able to see your vehicle while actually fishing.

Hiya Fred,

We all fished the mark that I mentioned in the PM I sent you... never saw you or the vehicle you said you would be there in?
Danny M got a nice Bass out of it too... (See reports).
Did you have a change of plan?

I read the report, nice Bass.
Unfortunately I fell ill Friday night, some sort of a bug, sick through out the night so the fishing was knocked on the head much to our disappointment. Only getting back to normal now thank god. We will be heading there next week so I hope that big Bass will come say hello :D .

Thanks again for the info, it will be used next week for sure.
