waterford 23 dec08

#1 Post by beachbuddy »

People:myself and gunther

Duration:10 til 3

Tide:2.00

Weather:mild with a gentle surf running

Bait:razor and lug

Rigs:various

Results:me=6 flounder,a rockling and a bass,gunther 1 coalie and 1 Bass

Report:Decided to head to waterford for one last session before xmas turkey bonanza. We were'nt expecting too much and for the first couple of hours thats what it looked we would get.Eventually got desperate and put on the swim feeder on one of the rods and straight away a bass around the 3lb mark, blank saved, this was then followed by some very plump flounder and a little rockling[3 bearded i think],all these fish came on the rod with the swim feeder rig.
Gunther was struggling to get any bites but he then started using big lug baits just beyond the third breaker and result a cracking bite and 10 mins later a 73cm bass was at his side, fished put on his rekity scales just shy of 11lbs,a few snaps for the album and we both released the fish toghether, what an experience to see such a beautiful beast swim into the darkness, gunther was shaking with excitement for the next hour and talking to him this morning he still can't believe it,but as i've said before manys a time, gunther you would catch a fish in a puddle.
All in all a nice session to start the festive season with, and gunther an early xmas pressie for you and by god you deserved it :D :D :D
Tight lines and happy hols to all

Good one - a well done to Gunther.

Mike - I didn't get the chance to do a shore report on our session last Saturday - too much work to do before Christmas
But I will do it - although it probably wont be until after Christmas now.

Happy Christmas!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks all,
craigo always take pics of decent fish, just never post them up.nicer in the scrap book to look at in the depths of winter.Might start to put a few up for the new year, thats if we get any more decent fish.
Rockhunter don't worry about the report, just glad we did'nt blank.Shoreking, the feeder system was a godsend,so cheers for making us all aware of how effective it can actually be.Incidently met a chap who had a 13lber from the same beach recently,i guess the waterford beaches really are tops when it comes to big bass.
Happy xmas to all
