catch. Me 10 flounder, 1 turbot, 7 coalfish. derek around 12 fish ( flounder and Coalfish).


We decided to fish at Portsalon because our normal venue was unfishable due to high seas and weed. Also when the wind is gale force from the south or south west portsalon beach offers a lot of protection. We both had new rods and reels we wanted to try out ( early xmas presents ). Fishing started slowly with nothing happening for about 1 hour. Then there was a sudden burst of action in which both new rods were christened, mine with a 29 cm flounder and derek's with a 30 cm flounder . After this fish came steady until we packed up. All but 5 of the fish i caught were counters and all fish were released. Most of derek's were under 20cm but he did get the largest fish.. Unusually all the coalfish were caught before dark also the Turbot was the smallest i have ever seen about 4 cm lip hooked on a size 1 hook..
