Near killiney beach, Dublin, 18.12.08

People: Me

Duration: 8pm - 10 pm

Tide: Almost out, then out

Weather: Windy, cold, a bit wet,

Bait: lug

Rigs: 3 hook flapper, 2 up 1 down

Results: 4 whiting (2 big ones) 1 coalie, i flounder

I availed of a trip to the supermarket to make a slight detour on the way and happened to find myself standing on a nice sandy beach with my fishing gear in hand. Wasn't expecting much because the wind was strong and I didn't think that I would be able to see any bites. On the first cast there was a lot of movement in the rod which i put down to the wind. I pulled it in to find two whiting on the line. One was big. Probably the biggest I've ever caght which was a pleasant surprise.

On the second cast i pulled in a smaller whiting. In total I would say I had 8 casts. On the last two casts I pulled in a nice coalie and then a small but fat flounder.

It was the best fishing that I've had in a few weeks and I enjoyed it so much that I stayed longer than expected and ended up dashing around tescos at 11pm doing the food shop. As i was hungry when i got in a had a very tasty supper of the two large whiting and the nice coalie, filleted and fried with a glass of vino.

The smaller fish were sent back to get bigger.

Happy Christmas to all.

I like your thinking.

Sounds like a decent result for a short sneaky session. Good to see you're back fishing again.
