cracking N dublin whiting mark, 16/12/08

#1 Post by corbyeire »

People: myself and shamoo

Duration: 8.15 -12.15

Tide: lw about 7

Weather: few periods of gusty wind from W some small showers, cold!

Bait: lug, rag, crab, mac, sandeel, squid

Rigs: 3 hook flappers, baited feathers!

Results: myself 1 whiting, mark 2 codling, 3 rockling, piles of whiting

Report: went north in search of some place new to fish - hard to do in the dark - had spent a good hour walking about looking for spots and settled on a pier

mark only had the one rod out - i had the second set up and realised i didnt have any flappers in the bag so baited up the feathers - surprising got the whiting on this - noting on the home made rig

mark well and truly kicked my arse on the fish front - which is happening very regularly at this stage to the point of mild depression

had 2 rods out ffs - but i think the size 6s are the clincher

the codling took crab one of which was an alright size compared to the rest of the fish and gave a good bite

nice mark cant wait to back - so many features to fish for again

Looked a very decent spot alright, and made a welcome change to fishing our regular south dublin and wicklow marks.

Better for summer/autumn fishing I reckon plenty of potential for wrasse, pollock, bass and maybe conger, fascinating to see the demographics of the place change so much with the incoming tide, and some great features for a bit of bass fishing on the spinning rod next year close by were noted too.

Time to get yourself some size 6's Brian  , but you negleted to say I changed to size 1's when the 1st codling showed

Al, cant remember where I told you we were going, but yeh I think thats the place, rhymed with President * * * * :?

The fish seemed to come in patches, got the rockling really early in a foot of water, then nothing for an hour then whiting, then nothing, then codling, then nothing, then whiting to finish up.
