#1 Post by doggie3131 »

People:me and jason

Duration:3.00-8.30

Tide: 6ish

Weather:s/w wind but warmish

Bait:mack,whiting,squid,sandeel

Rigs:one down two up flappers, pennell rigs

Results:pollock,small coalies,loads of doggies

Report:very last minute trip, jason got out of the dentist early!broke speed limits getting to lecanvey because it had been two weeks since the last trip due to me becoming a grandda 8) and we were getting withdrawel symptoms!! we were set up in rapid time, but things started slow, nothing showing till about 4.30 then jason was into a fish on his small spinning rod, took a while to land a nice pollock about 3lb,because he got caught up in weed!jasons face was a picture when he realised it was not a monster :D I then brought in one of my rods to freshen up my baits to find a tiny coalie on the end,big size difference  got a bit of a slagging over that one!! things went quiet again for a while with just a few of those tiny coalies between us but dead on high tide the doggies came on and how!! we could not keep up,singles, doubles,we even had three on the pier at one stage!!this went on for about an hour,we tried to keep away from them with baits high up in the water,no good  was like they had not eaten for a month.then just like that they went off the feed and that was that!so with big smiles on our faces we packed up,remember that report about doggies been scarce?well not in lecanvey pier they aint!!!

Haaa!

Much more like the lecanvey I love to loathe!
Are you around Stephen's Day - may be heading off to do some real fishing!

PM if you are around
Kieran Hanrahan

Time spent fishing is never time wasted...

2015 targets - a triggerfish, a specimen bass, a three bearded rockling to complete the set and something big and toothy from certain north Mayo deep water marks
