stoney beach/Dunaff Donegal 13/12/08

#1 Post by fishermannum1 »

[b]People just me

[b]Duration 10.30am....4.oopm

[b]Tide dropping/riseing

[b]Weather cold, then sleet

[b]Bait peeler/mackerel/squid

[b]Rigs 2 hook flapper/pully rig

[b]Results loads of pin whiting

[b]Report the son pulled out of this trip so i left early to get a decent session,
when i got to my mark the wind was light but would cut you in half for it was that cold.
just as i got the rods in the water the sleet started  and it hammered down, think it stoped only twice for 15 minutes or so, at the end up it got that bad i had to pack up and head for the car, was trying this mark for a bass, as i have been lucky at this mark in the past, but no joy   rod at distance and rod in close only produced small pin whiting, but at the end of the day it was better than blanking.
only thing that kept me going today was the floatie suit, if i had not got it ,i would have left after an hour cos the condishions were that bad....

few pic's of the beach....

better than a blanker anyway. looks like a beech that would hold some flatties and possibly a bass or two

if it werent for pin whiting my last 3 times out would have been blanks. not sure if 20 tiny fish count for much tho.

the 2nd and 3rd pics look like it could have been a summers day.

Great pics. Pity about the size of the fish. Floatie suits are great !! Make fishing at this time of the year much more bareable

Hi Don, I didnt get finished up at work till around 2 yesterday, I stopped and got some rag on my way down the road. I was on every beach between clonmany and leenan, twice  looking for ye. Is your car navy? if it is you passed me on one of them wee back roads.

I ended up fishing leenan from about 3.30 / 4 till around 5.30 with rag and mac and caught loads of what you'd call 'wee puckers' I was callin them somthing that sounded similar! By haf 5 I was so cold it was't funny!

I might head to culdaff this evening!

OUCH!!!! know the feeling Dave, when i get it bad i use E-45 cream, it clears it up good an fast

paddy dont know how we missed each other, i'll give you a ring later.

cheers lads for all your replys, you do get the odd bass off this beach, but soon as the bait hit the water the pins were off with it, even the large bait at distance on a pennel came back every time with a pin.
between pins, weedfish and the sleet i gave up.

but got a nice "COD" on the way home, even the batter was nice 8) 8) 8)
