People:me and the seagulls

Duration: an eternity[3hrs]

Tide:5

Weather:wet wet wet and blowing a gale

Bait:razor and crab

Rigs:single 3/o pennels

Results:1 coalie and soaked to the skin

Report:Decided at the last min to get out for a few hrs today as im xmas shopping tommorow with herself.Tried a sheltered   beach, what a mistake, today was without doubt the worst conditions i've ever fished in.A massive surf was rolling and i was in the sheltered part
Little weed about so i wa hoping for a huge slice of luck and hook a big bass because thats all i thought would be about.Just on the verge of cracking up when the rod buckled over, yes i thought but it only turned out to be a lively coalie,he looked more weather beaten than myself.Only stayed another hour without success, packed up and headed for home.I certainly wont put myself through that ever again
There should be a cracking surf tommorrow but alas it won't be for me and my soggy rods   .Must dash now as the men in white coats are at my door, allegedley my neighbours called them when they heard i was gone fishing, maybe a trip INSIDE might be a good thing    ,agh im cracking up help,to much sand in my brain cell.

Seanie ,trust me you were better off at work,if you could see the mess my gear is in at the moment and i don't think my flotation suit will ever dry out again,my god even my rods will need a few days to dry out,it was nutts, but will i do it again, you better believe it[just not with the wind and rain like today, now how long til summer]
Normally as a rule of thumb for me the crappier the weather the bigger the fish, thats that idea out the window, currently after blowing across to wales at this stage along with some of my other ideas.Anyway im off to strip and clean the reels now, wonder what condition they are in

this weekend is meant to be a big bass feeding frenzy before it really dulls out for a few months so get your gear dry fast, I'm set for a 5.am rise to get some casts before work engulfs me, probably gonna concentrate on the cod in youghal after this weekend

meant to be! and to be fair it should be but the predicted sudden drop in temperatures could yet play a part. Also, I wouldn't suddenly give up on bass fishin after this weekend. I'll be very surprised if they are'n cought regularly for another while.

I think it is generally acceptd that the bass slows down soon because they start to shoal up in the run up to spawning and you have more blank sessions. The thing is though that when a big shoal does go onto a beach, and are feeding, you can have a mega session. The other thing is, this year the cod fishin has been so much tougher so why blank at cod in youghal? When/if the cod show up in youghal you will hear about it and i think go over then. Until then I'd keep at the bass but I wouldn't keep goin down to the same mark every session!

If conditions are right you'll pick up bass every month of the year.

That was not a good day to be out - it was windy enough here in town so I can hardly imagine what it was like on the coast.
I am scheduled for Christmas shopping myself tomorrow but I will definitely head out later, maybe even get an early morning session in - if I can drag myself out of bed

Roadrunner,

dunno about Pat, but I'm def not an expert on fishin. A title like that is likely to be dangerous and lead to total embarrassment in the end
