Rathlacken Pier 10.12.08 & Rathmullen Beach 11.12.08

#1 Post by herefishyfishy »

Fished Rathlacken Pier Monday Morning from 9am till 12. tried every angle off the pier different distances not one bite for all time i was out. plenty of rocks of the pier to get snaged on. Looked promising from the location but the highlight of the morning was seeing two porpoises swimming nearby.
Later that afternoon myself and the girlfriend headed up to Donegal for two nights looking forward to this for a while. got up there and decided that Tuesday was the day that i would fish. Got up Tuesday looked out and it wasn't the nicest day, still hopes up off to my favourite mark. the swell was to bad to attempt to fish this (if there was my usual companion i would of being running down to it but wasn't the nicest place to try with the girlfriend in toe). So off to see a few other marks and no joy there fishing wise. Anyway went back to Rathmullen beach with a hope of a fish or two after reading the report on here a while back. Set up past all the boat mourings and cast out tired again in vain all distances and locations with two rods. Every time baits came back in untouched. Fished this from just before 12am until 3.30pm. Heart broken so decide to treat the girlfriend to dinner. Back in Dublin now thinking of where i can go fishing closer to home this weekend.

Unfortunately you picked the wrong part of Rathmullen beach. The best part is past the Fort Royal hotel on the Kinnegar side which is round the other side of the headland to the left of where you fished. There is a small carpark you fish right in front of it also it is best after dark.
