waterford 6-7th dec 2008

#1 Post by stevecrow74 »

People:myself and MC

Duration:24 hours (with sleep and food breaks)

Tide:all over the place

Weather:clear and very cold

Bait:lug (frozen and fresh that ended up frozen), crab, razor..

Rigs:various

Results: coalie flounder and whiting

Report: went for a spin down south as MC had a couple of days off work and wanted to beat me after last years session with forfeit of buying me pizza and pints  ..
headed down with the intention of buying a few fresh lug. but alas all sold out :( so off to a mark i know for a quick dig.. ended up with a handful of lug.. enough for a session, and just in time as the tide had turned and it was rather dark (very dark)..

with a nice little surf it looked fishy.. a few others were fishin and more arrived down later, so it looked like we could be in for a good one.. a few baits were cast far in hope of a codling.. but coalies seemed to like the baits more :?

the breeze died down completely and the cold really started to set in as a layer of frost covered cooler bags and backpacks..

fish were slowly coming in but at least we both beat the blank :D
a couple of nice flounder came in , mine was on razor (greedy bugger)..

MC had a couple of good sized coalie ane i had a decent sized one too, we both missed big bites... looked bassy too.

MC had 9 fish and i had 7

back into the city for a chinese  then drove out for a quiet sleep

woke up in the mornin and headed for coffee before heading to a mark to attempt to catch cod..
a few others were fishin but no fish :( fished for a few hours and talked to a couple of locals that said the area had been rather quiet lately :(

no target species caught (bass, cod) so the forfeit has increased to pizza and more pints

Unlucky not to pick up a bass there. The cod are hard to come by The fishin should be much better this weekend with the predicted sth westerlies and westerlies, rise in temperature, and better tides.

enjoyed the wee trip down as steve said the cod/bass where not there, we even went to a serect cod mark that was that serect someone forgot to tell the cod, the whiting where there but 3/0 hooks stopped them. Went home happy knowing that i outfished steve and that my fish where bigger than his  missed a few bites due to being on the phone to the wife that where either big coalies or shoolies, have to go back someday, besides a pizza and 2 beers is the prize next time.

Am I to understand that you actually bought someone a pint Steve?
Its called fishing, not catching. If it was called catching it wouldn't be fishing!
