"Eating fish?"

Naw... it was put back, it being the closed season and all...

Time spent fishing is never time wasted...

2015 targets - a triggerfish, a specimen bass, a three bearded rockling to complete the set and something big and toothy from certain north Mayo deep water marks

Lovely fish. I like to see reports of sea-trout being caught

Was in Tesco today. Saw a Japaneese woman buying a "Salmon". I went up and informed her and the guy behind the counter that it wasn't a salmon. The guy behind the counter knew it wasn't. He never even argued with me.

what was it ?

A sea-trout.

There's a very distinct wrist at a salmons tail. Plus Salmon flesh is pink sea-trout flesh is pale.

An easy way to tell the difference is to wrap your index finger and thumb around the start of the tail. If the fish falls it's a sea-trout, if it stays put it's a salmon.

A sea trouts mouth will extend past it's eye. They also have a slightly more blunt nose than a salmon and sea-trout have spots below the lateral line salmon don't.

I think you may have a salmon there. But I can't be sure going by the picture.
