Donaghadee Co. Down tuesday 2nd december 08

#1 Post by Al and Jordan »

People: me and andrew

Duration: 5pm - 8pm

Tide: dropping to low

Weather: occasional sleet, 14mph winds and cccccold

Bait: cooked peeled prawn, sand eel, mack and squid

Rigs: 3 hook flappers and 3/0 pennel rig for dogs

Results: ME: 7 pollack, 4 shore rockling, 1 coalfish and a doggie. ANDREW blank

Report: i had to get back to my old stomping grounds, so a session at the Dee was in order to see how she was fishing. andrew came along as he had'nt wet a line in near a month. (tut, tut). i was into a coalfish straight off on the doggie rig which was a bit of a suprise as it was baited with an 8 inch calamary on 6/0 uptide hooks. he was quite the greedy little gobbler    . then there was a quick succession of pollack all taken on prawn and andrew headed into the town to find a chippy for a munch    i fished on regardless on my own getting a few rockling all taken on squid just down the side of the harbour wall. then the doggie rod bent over and i wound in what i thought was a monster fish     . my 15lb line was almost at breaking point and my heart sank when i saw a doggie hooked with a massive lump of kelp in tow       but he was still respectable at just over 2 and a half pounds :D :D :D :D :D :D by 8pm i'd had as much of the cold as i could handle so we packed and headed for home. all in all not a bad wee session     odd thow that there were no whiting about :? :? :? :? :? :? :? i could'nt seem to get through them the other night at bangor :?: but hey, thats fishing for ya. i also met a couple of decent blokes from another forum as we were packing away and got chatting. nice to see we were'nt the only 2 nutters braving the elements

cheers drew, i love catching doggies. they have real character to em. it's the first time i've targeted them at donaghadee on big baits. you never know, you might even hook into a huss. i saw a pic of one landed at the dee a lot of months back in sea angler :) :) :) :) we live in hope

If someone shows you a mark to fish, respect it and dont pass it of as one of your own, dont tell every man and his dog about it.
