ny advice on ny marks in county down for big mullet (4Ibs+)
Lure caught Fish 2014- Pollack, Coalie, Pouting, Poor Cod, Dab, Cod, Whiting, Flounder, Plaice, Bass, SeaTrout, Grey Gurnard, Scad, SandSmelt, Red Gurnard, Launce, Lesser Sandeel, Rock Goby, Black Goby, Shanny, Mackerel, Herring, Dragonet, Ballan Wrasse, Corkwing Wrasse, GoldSinney Wrasse, Lesser Weaver, Butterfish, Perch, Pike

i know of plenty :wink: but i dont know if you`ve noticed what time of year it is :!: its winter and the mullet are all gone till next spring :roll: no point in looking for mullet till april-may `09

Hey Davy, are you sure they aren't around earlier on in the year? i just checked my local mullet spot and there seemed to be a shoal present(could see the wake, boiling and swirling and such).

And i was getting them early feburary this year. gonna try for them tomorro i hope.

sure they werent sea trout, som times they hang about in the same areas as mullet.

alright fishinmidget,im afraid you have a longer mullet season down galway than we do here,which is all down to sea temp.we dont have the gulf stream warming the water so have to wait for a spell of sunny weather to help things warm up :(
from what i know the further south you go the longer mullet season you get.a local in cork was even telling me that you will see mullet all year in rosscarbery :mrgreen:

good luck tomorrow,it`ll be interesting to see how you get on

i saw mullet in strangford lough last year around the last week of november, but last winter was a lot milder (12 degrees celcius instead of -3 "farenhight", well i mean celcius :!: :!: :!: :!: )

ah thats a bad buzz. there was a large shoal there today, i put a report up. i am sure we will be seeing them all year(jsut to make you a bit more jealous :mrgreen: :mrgreen: :mrgreen: :mrgreen: )
