Weather:roaring gale north wind cold
Bait:mack squid,herring,mussel, shrimp.

Rigs:flappers pulley, two up one down
Results:5 pollock, three doggies,one three bearded rockling
Report:started in old head, wind in our faces,very dirty water full of weed,fished a few rock and beach marks,and nothing happening,not even a doggie,after 4 hours gave up and went to lecanvey pier. it was more sheltered here and water a lot clearer, a lot less weed, after about an hours fishing jason was first in with a doggie, soon after i followed him with one as well.the tide was ebbing and things went quiet, but as it started to go dark small pollock up to about 2lb were caught,then jason got another doggie,we then both had a bigger pollock at exactly the same time! and both the same weight about 4lb(my scales are a bit dodgy)and just as we were about to pack up i got a knock and a three bearded rockling? came in.I have a pic and hope ye agree its a three bearded rockling! i would not have had a clue what this fish was but for a report i saw on the site last week,the picture is not great,(my first digital camara) but i dont really care which rockling it is cause its a new species for me!!

dissapointing day overall bar the rockling,normally old head is much better,thats the first time ive blanked there tried to put up a pic of the rockling, but need to find out how to resize it!

only fished oldhead for the first time this summer with a bunch of mates.
great spot and can't wait to go again. nice fishing doggie. good to be gettin out! :L

have had two 14 hour sessions earlier this year, 
but these were after not getting out for a week or two, was getting withdrawal symtoms!!!

Old Head is like that, good or awful!
a mate, Bruce, has had similar pollack very recently on marks further west, nice to see them still around, surprising to find you took them on the ebb, had a similar fish in galway around the same stage of the tide, just goes to show you how predators use the ebb to hunt...
