No. Forgot the report so may as well stick it in here now.

There was two other guys way off in the distance. Could see their headlamps. Conditions were luvly and we knew we were goin to get bass. We tend to target bass when conditions are good and so it proved once again. I got all mine on the in-line feeder rig and my mate got his on the clipped rig. Fish started to hit from 5.45 straight through until we left. We could have had more if we stayed on but we had had our sport. We release almost all our bass anyway so we weren't all that bothered. I took a few pics but I can't locate my memory stick. I had it around here yesterday so I think the dog ate it. If it turns up I'll post some. You have to bear in mind that the area is stuffed with bass and that is why there are so many regular catches and so many big catches too.

I'm no expert but I find it pretty effective. Particularly good in a moderate to weak surf. As far as I'm concerned it definitely improves my catches. Its certainly one to try. At times it can be a nuisance as it can attract a lot of small fish to the hookbait.

I think that we were down the beach from you with the headlights on. Only managed 2 bass but missed 4 others. Crab was all they wanted.

As I’ve said before, I wouldn’t claim to be an angling expert but here goes. The basic explanation of the rig is that it is a standard rig with a large swim feeder attached as close to the lead as possible by threading the trace line through the swim feeder (having removed the lead that comes attached to the feeder) and securing it in position between two crimps while leaving enough space to open the feeder to fill it with burly and draw fish in from a wide area. If you fish competitions I expect these rigs wouldn’t be allowed though.

I am going to put a post up in the appropriate boardo section with a more detailed explanation and with diagrams of in-line feeder rigs (running ledger and clipped paternoster). You could also use a standard feeder (lead and all) on a rig with light tackle for close in work. Here the feeder with its lead acts as your lead and also doubles up as the feeder. You can buy special cage type feeders for this purpose which are heavier that the standard coarse fishing type but most of them are really heavy and you would need to pare them down for a standard 5 to 6oz rod.

As regards where to fish in west waterford. Beaches include bunmahon, clonea, ballyquin, whiting bay for bass. They are all good beaches. You need good tides, good conditions, experience and a bit of luck to make the most of it.

Now that not nice!!!!

Its like this. Any accomplished angler could go to the Cunniger and land 50+ small bass in a session on rod and line if they are there at the right time. Double shots of bass are not uncommon down here as many posts have proven. I also do a lot of pluggin which is how I get a lot of my bigger bass. 50 trips averaging only ten bass (not that massive a catch down here if your counting schoolies) would have you at 500!

Just coz theres lads nettin down in Bannow etc doesn't mean all us waterford lads are at it!!!!! Oh yeah, I've fished down there and seen the netters at night, and I've seen how many the boys fishin rod and line in the boats are killin in the summer!!!!
