Red bay pier

#1 Post by lincolnedd »

People... Me, Alec, Dale

Duration.. 2.30 - 10pm

Tide... High water 9.30pm

Weather... Worst weather i've been fishing in in 25 years (lovely)

Bait.... Rag, lug, squid and macks

Rigs.... 2 hook pats, 1 up 1 down

Results.... Me 4 dabs ( 1-28cms) lots of coalies 3 codling (no bigger ones yet)

Report... Started off with the weather not too bad but not for long the worst part of the weather arrived around high tide which made fishing the pier interesting to say the least, 30+ mph winds, apart from that the fish came pretty steady, one thing i would say is that at least you can get fishing on the pier in that sort of weather without being tourtured buy our european cousins. We were up the week before and about 20 of them arrived camper van and all, needless to say they never returned much of what they caught to the water by much I mean nothing (regardless of size) I will be heading up to the pier this weekend again hopefully the bigger codling will start to show before long. (mod edit)

i use a NFSA sea measure which lists minimun retention sizes for most shore species. if someone is acting the egit and killing or keeping undersized fish i politely approach them to point out their error and also gauge their attitude. 9 times outa 10 they say they did'nt realize and stop. but you will get the odd ignorant git who does'nt care and will continue, at which point a pretend phone call to the cops while standing beside the clampit in question usually remedies the problem     . i've only ever had i individual who became aggressive towards me, but he learnt to his cost that you do'nt threaten an off duty doorman    . hope he was a strong swimmer
