West Cork Beach, 14/11/2008

#1 Post by thescotsman »

People: me & petekd

Duration: 19:30 - 23:30

Tide: LW midnight or therabouts I think

Weather: westerly breeze, mild

Bait: razor, black lug, mack

Rigs: single hook clipdown, 3 hook clipdown, 3 hook flappers

Results: 2 fine bass to Pete

Report: Outfished by Pete again. Two bites the whole night between the two of us and both resulting in decent sized bass for Pete. Sure Pete has the length measurements, but I'd estimate around the 5lb and 7lb mark. Nothing else showing the whole time we were there.
Pete continued his run of picking up a bass on his flounder rig at about 10yds distance.
Gave up towards low tide when we had most of the beach to walk back up and weed started to becoming a nusiance.

60 cm and 70cm respectively. 2 nice fish, quiet other than that though. Will these pesky bass not leave my flattie rigs alone! Whole razor for the first at distance and a tiny bit of black lug tipped with mac on a 4 for the second in the suds.

I was lucky enough to get that lad as the size 4 kamasan was bent in bits come unhooking. Must start bringing the camera out again but its hard to make yourself reach for it when you're plastered in sand and slime.... Wasnt the most comfortable night with the wind in our faces with a little rain making life for my bespectacled self somewhat trying. It was also holding a foot of water on the beach for a distance that surpassed my welly waddling abilities. I opted to stay dry and fished into that with one rod and belted the other.
