Donaghadee 02/11/08

#1 Post by vamper »

People:Me and my father

Duration:1030 - 1330

Tide:rising

Weather:windy, then calm & sunny

Bait:mackerel strips, cooked king prawns

Rigs:Float, 3 hook paternoster, 2 hook bomber

Results:blank

A few nibbles on the mackerel strip fished straight down the side of the pier, but nothing else apart from that

Tried cooked king prawns (as bait, not dinner  ) for the first time (on the advice of nobuzz), and they definitely stay on the hook better than the smaller prawns

Cheers Conger

I just have to keep reminding myself that it is called fishing, not catching!!

hard luck vamper, had the same results on friday myself. go back down and fish the incomming tide after dark and you will see a dramatic difference. the dee is back to fishing better after dark again. we've fished this mark heavily over the last 2 years and i've come to learn that if you blank during the day, then you'll fill your boots after dark

Alan is spot on with his abvice Vamper. Don't even waste your efforts fishing the Dee during daylight through the Winter. After dark you'll be hauling the fish in.
