Greystones South beach 01-Nov-08

#1 Post by stevo74 »

People:
Me

Duration:
14:00-18:30

Tide:
HW 13:00

Weather:
NE-E wind - clear

Bait:
Rag & Mack

Rigs:
running ledger

Results:
Decent size coalie, small Bass & small flounder

Report:

Arrived at Greystones just before 14:00. Hopes were high as there was a good surf running, what with the North easterly wind. Proud to say that I am no longer a Bass virgin !
Not so proud to say that fish was , not even a schoolie, but a pre-schoolie Bass! Either way was happy to finally catch one, so took a quick pic and let him go. Was only 30 mins in and after catching that little fella my hopes were even higher, but sad to say it wasn't to be.
Afterwards caught a decent size coalfish ,1 1/2 lbs, and a small flounder so was happy enough with my days fishing. Left around 18:30 as there was not much happening and I couldn't fight off the hunger pangs any longer.

Had never fishing here before but it's a grand spot, with easy access through gate just there at driving range, and there wasn't that much weed. Gate was closed on my way back but just about managed to squeeze through a gap in the gate !

Weather should be pretty much the same tommorrow so might head out again to finish off my leftover bait but all depends on whether I can extend my fishing/kitchen pass another day !

later

Steve

PS- anyone know any good coalfish recipes?
