Cod fishing

#1 Post by RockHunter »

As cod/codling like cold conditions would the current weather conditions be right for them to come close to the shore and up the estuaries or would the NE winds act as a deterrant as they seem to do with most other fish on the south coast?

Or are the sea temperatures still too warm for them to make an appearance in any number?

id say its well worth a lob for them anytime, as far as i know they start showing from september onwards and i think if your fishing an estuary the tide factor would overide the wind factor, 2 years ago a group of anglers got a heap of them in youghal fishing through the nite on the bank holiday weekend using crab. gonna start fishing the deeper waters myself in the hope of a lunker :)
