Waterfoot pier, Antrim 22/10/08

#1 Post by JAMMYJOEY »

People: Me and Jonny

Duration: 19:00 to 22:40

Tide: Falling

Weather:dd Strong winds and some rain

Bait: Rag, mackeral and sandeel
dd
Rigs: Single hook clipped and 2 hook flapper

Results: Me 3 pollock 1 coalie, Jonny small cod, 1 pollock and 1 coalie

Report: We had some bait left over from the weekend so decided to head up the coast for a couple of hours to use it up.

Must have picked one of the worst evenings this week. The wind was approaching gale force and rain was forcast ( and it arrived on schedule ).

There were 4 guys packing up when we arrived at the pier and they said that they had a couple of dogs and some pollock.

We set our gear up and whacked the baits out.

Had nothing at all for the first couple of hours. Jonny mucked a cast up and it almost landed at his feet. He started getting bites right away!

We put the next lot of baits just out in front of us and thats where all the fish came from. All were around the 30cm mark and were a bit of crack. Got a couple of almighty rattles too that may mean there are some good fish knocking around.

Fair play for braving our lovely weather at the minute. At least you were rewarded with a few fish. :D
