Dave 1 Bass

Report: (The Curse of my New York Yankees Hat :!: )

Meslf and carpets Spent saturday driving around the coast looking for a new Bass ambush points, we found a couple of new areas off the beaten track and decided to give them a shot later that night.

Carpets picked me up later that evening, but I couldnt find my usual fishing hat no big deal but it was blowing a hooly outside and I needed something for the head ya know. Right so, only thing I could find was my New York Yankees Hat  which was not good. Reason being this hat is cursed, honestly ive never caught a fish while wearing this hat!...
So I got into the van , Carpets seen the hat and his words were ' ah no not that ******* hat' and I replied ' you do know I am not going to catch anything tonight'. we drove on.

Arrived at the mark, hiked to the spot set up 2 rods a piece and fished for three hours to the top of the tide Dave to the left me in the middle Carpets to the right, Carpets was getting bite after bite and eventually landed a nice flounder on a 3/0 running ledger. Dave got a few knocks but failed to connect. ....I didnt get a ratlle on either rod

Decision was made to go to a new mark I was at last week where I got a couple of Bass on the start of the fall, so we moved off to the other mark.

Arrived at second location and set up again just on the start of the fall, Me in the middle Dave 10 yards to my left and Carpets 20 yards to my right. All baits in the water.... Carpets gets hammered on the lug but dosent connect. The bass are here right on cue. The two lads contine to get hit by them but fail to connect in the fist hour, finally Carpets nails one and lands a nice bar of Silver 8) Pictures ensue and the fish is released.
The lads continue to get good bites, then Dave asks me ' why is my line gone off to the left?' Bass had slack lined him and swam down to the left of him, he soon landed the culprit, after a quick picture the fish is quickly released. Soon after he got hit again by a bigger fish and battled him to the shore but the fished broke free right on the edge of the suds. the lads continued to get bites and their baits were getting cleaned on most casts after the bites. Carpets also got a baby Codling on a 4/0
Fair play to dave, I think that was his first bass of 2008.

My rods remain motionless.......
Carpets says to me 'Whats going on Danny? Its not like you not to be geting Bass when there around'
I tried every trick in my arsenel to no avail. I didnt get a bite for the night, my baits came back untouched every time.

Guess what Hat is going in the Fire today :!:

It's not the hat Danny, it's fishing in that middle spot. I'm cursed in the middle. :D

Oh and I forgot to add :

I lost: 1 lenght of tapered shock leader
1 4/0 Pennel Pulley Trace
1 5 oz breakaway Gripper
6 4/0 Sakumas to spider crabs 2 4/0 Sakumas to kelp
Thats more gear than ive lost in the last 3 months !! The lads lost nothing!

Also I dropped my 7ht Turbo in the sand, dropped my 525 in the sand and my Tornado magically fell out of the stand into the sand too !!

Oh to add insult to injury the 200 odd lug I had left over from last night have all blown !!!
Its the curse I tell ye

Good fishin, lads  (except you, Danny... )

If I lost one set, fair enough. If I lost another, time to be movin!!.
If its any consolation Danny, I'd say them fish were comin along the shore sniffin out YOUR nice bait, but just got nailed by the others on the way...

In fairness, and looking at the other reports around, the South Coast seems to be fishing great for bass this last few weeks. :D
