South Galway, 17.10.08

People: me fein

Duration: 18:00-22:00

Tide: HT @ 19:40

Weather: odd shower little wind

Bait: mackerel and lures

Rigs: animal rigs

Results: 1 small coalie

Report: Not too much to report really, arrived at the mark and put out a tope bait. Decided to do some lure fishing the thoughts of the previous weeks bass still fresh in my mind. First time fishing with the new spinning rod i'd picked up the previous weekend of Tom. Nice rod amazed at how much distance i was getting from the gentlest of flicks. Good action when using the surface lures too. Was hoping there might be some bass lurking around as the tide had filled over the lug beds. Wasn't to be but caught a small coalie so christened the new rod with a fish and it's a new species for the year :) so that made up for the disappointment of not getting any runs on the tope gear. Will try another mark during the week for the tope.

Ah I'm the same meself. Funny how ya always remember the good fish you caught, but the many previous hours put in are firmly at the back of your mind.

Nice to see you giving the tope a good go....its only a matter of time before a man of your experience hooks into that monster....just make sure your ready for him
