Dogfish, Whiting, Pouting
Report:
Turned up around 8 and talked to a couple at the harbour for a bit, they siad there had been a few fish caught in the previous few nights. Would have been cramped o fish there so headed round the rocks. Was a huge swell so found a nice part to fish from but only had 1 decent bite, possibly a dogfish but it let go as I was bringing it in.
Headed round to the harbour which was now empty, Rab got fed up and headed home after catching nothing so gave us a chance to fish properly. Sandeels got a whiting almost every cast, very small though, and the squid got dogfish every cast with the occasionally chubby pouting.
Was the first time I had gone to portmuck at night and was pleasantly surprised.

Re: Portmuck Harbour 13/10/2008
When I was young id fish portmuck every week, always liked it up there and only 20 mins down the road.
Went up to red bay harbour last week and struggled to catch anything over 3" long no matter what hook size used... My mate caught a herring tho, at night!
I've been lurking on this board seeing other peoples reports so thought I'd better start making a contribution! Its good wee site and very informative
Most of my trips however are a bit impromptu and often at night.
