Re: clifden bay co galway 11 october 2008
hi corbyeire caught 2 on the dried rag worm and 3 on the mackerel, frozen mackerel seems to work better for me then fresh mackerel for ray, tried frozen and fresh on the same rig one day and every bite was on the frozen mackerel,1 year old frozen mackerel works best ,not too professional still have a lot too learn yet, only have 8 Species this year would like to see a few more,I think you are more professional then me by looking at your photos, some very nice fish there

gf kelly
i always have frozen with me - rather than fresh - more a habit of laziness more than anything
it always amazes me seeing lads throwing away bait at the end of the session (bar live rag)
i can honest say ive caught more on refrozen gear than fresh stuff
another poster on here talks of his bars of gold - due to the colour the mack goes after being refrozen and left in the freezer a long time

youve got 2 species that i havent got this year - no huss or bluie
tight lines

Re: clifden bay co galway 11 october 2008
hi corbyeire I have a habit of laziness too, even used smokey rashers one time when I was too lazy to go dig or pick bait,by the way caught some eel and a pollack on the rashers from spiddle pier,
have lots of them gold bars in the freezer and need to wear sun glasses when baiting the hook, some of the mackerel I have used has been thawed and baked in the sun and refrozen 6 or 7 times and is still catching fish
I fish with a friend sometimes and he always has to buy fresh mackerel and lug and frozen crab and sand eel when he go`S fishing and I just use the gold bars and I usely end up catching more

buying bait can be expensive so anyone that is thinking of throwing it in the sea after a session bring your bait home and refreeze and see will you catch anything the next time you are out
has anyone else tried lazy bait and what did you use and did you catch anything
and what did you use and did you catch anything

Re: clifden bay co galway 11 october 2008
yeah, ive tried it(lazy lug) and caught nothing, that was on a day when fresh lug and mack strips were bringing in doubles of flatties and gurnards.
as far as refrozen bait goes, i only do that to razorfish. never caught much on refrozen anything else but hey, everyones different.

Re: clifden bay co galway 11 october 2008
my god hes alive

alex where have you been!!!
i think refrozen squid is very good - i see lots of anglers throwing the head away as well as the cartilage part - have caught huss and dogs on the heads alone
as well as refrozen mussels for floating
those bars of gold are the best though!!

the lazy lug is rubbish and a rip off - it usually disintegrates after about 2mins aswell
