ennereilly-08-09-08

People:me, fishface and 2 others

Duration:4-9pm

Tide:high at 4 approx

Weather:dd fine,

Bait:mack, rag, squid
dd
Rigs:flappers

Results:whiting and flounder

Report:Took advantage of the break in the weather and tried ennereilly again for a bass but    in vain. I set up in a good spot and was happy out when i got a flounder on the second cast. I havent had much luck here in the past so at least the blank was saved  . A couple of schoolies were caught in close by some very experienced anglers (one a former irish team member 8) ) but apart from that it was just small whiting and flounder. 8 rods between 4 of us and nothing much stirring. All distances were tried but maybe we should have got there earlier in the day to catch the incoming tide :?: I got 8 whiting, including a double, all small, and 1 flounder, but to tell the truth , i was happy enough not to be disgracing myself in the company. A year ago i would have been too embarassed to fish with these guys, but thanks to the help i've got from mainly guys from this site (thanks especially to fishface  ), i could relax and just fish away.  I really enjoyed hearing all the fishing stories from years ago,,,,and judging from the amounts caught, its no wonder there arent many left out there   :D :D :D

Dont think so Eric, theres no curve to the lateral line, maybe the resized picture i posted doesnt show it clearly enough :?: Former team members identity is classified information, he just wanted to get a few hours in with Eyes, passing on "The Knowledge"

Know what you mean Wayne,,,,there was me concentrating on getting my cast right and not crossing their lines  ,,,,,,got a decent cast in (for me  ) only to see them casting a few yards out( and catching  ).Another lesson learned.!!

maybe up in your parts - but the colours can vary a lot

the head looks like a dab with the raised circular eyes - but on first look i thought flounder - think the shape doesnt look like a dab to me...

Shape was more diamondy than oval.

Well done on holding your own with a bunch of experienced anglers.

I know what you mean about not trying to cross lines - a lot of my casts seem to go about 30 degrees off the direction I am aiming in
At first I was a bit intimidated by the distance some of these guys could cast - until I realized that in most places I fish the fish are in quite close to the shore and even I was casting over them.
