JP (Rampent One) V's Sean (Seaniebo) Veals/Daiwa LMS Comp.
People: Me and JP
Duration: 8 hours
Tide: barely moving
Weather: Fine, odd scattered shower.
Bait: Sandeel and Mac
dd
Rigs: 2 and 3 hook clipped downs, flyers
Results:
We decided to try and get this one over and done with, so it was agreed to fish the 8 hours straight on a connemara beach. We were both a little bit ropey after the weekends exersions so a nice handy session was called for. That went out the window when I reeled in a dog on the first cast and JP reeled in a full house, a flounder and a 6lb and 8lb ray!
The fishing was a bit weird after that as the fish seemed to move through in patches. I was lucky enough to catch up about halfway through the session and we went pretty much fish for fish til the end.
JP has the final fish count which I'll try to get from him this afternoon but I was lucky enough to scrape through in the end. Final tally was something like:
JP: 1 Flounder, 2 Dogs, 9 Ray
Sean: 1 Turbot, 1 Dog and 11 Ray.
Most enjoyable comp Ive been involved in for a long time. Ended up with a face full of cake afterwards for my troubles!
