Autumn/Winter Fishing near Belfast

#1 Post by nobuzz »

I've just got back into sea-fishing after 20 years of fly-fishing for trout.

What are the prospects for some good fishing near Belfast over the next 6 months (or should I get my Pike gear dusted down?).
Species List 2012 (Me) - Lesser Spotted Dogfish, Plaice, Codling, pollack, dab, SS Scorpion Fish, Ballan Wrasse, Codling.

Species List 2012 (Daniel) - Not got started yet :-(

D'dee fishes well for codling ,coalies and doggies up to about middle of january so don't give up hope .
If someone shows you a mark to fish, respect it and dont pass it of as one of your own, dont tell every man and his dog about it.

Oh keep fishing it, There are fish about and as Ronald says, it dies off a bit. My worst 2 months are feb and march each year, but i keep at it and usually catch something. Plenty of places to fish also, dont just stick to the known places. I tried a new spot down past Portavogie on sat, and even though i blanked it, it has great potential. So get out there and just move about and enjoy the fishing.

Looks like the Dee is producing fish a the moment fella, get yourself down there and check it out. Red bay is also a good choice with only 50 minutes up the road

I'm planning to keep plugging away at the Dee. We've done well there over the Summer.

Do the codling get to any sort of size.
