New Reel - PTEC 6600W : - )

At the suggestion of various members and given the magazines will run a mile from criticising a piece of kit, here is your chance to tell us what you really think about a rod, reel, line, lure... keep it legal please!

New Reel - PTEC 6600W : - )

#1 Post by JPS »

Well I have finally got my hand on the PTEC ABU 6600 W and must say that I am very impressed with the quality fit and finish of the reel as well as the service provided by Peter in getting the reel over to me hear in Australia.

The lower frame is an absolute pleasure to grip and sits on the WR300 very well . The ability for me to get a more substantial grip on the spool is immediately noticable and I will be itching to get it out on the field, unfortunately this will have to wait till the weekend due to work commitments.
Othe nice touches on the reel are the removal of the large star drag knob which as been replaced with a smaller non obtrusive dial type with knurling on it to make adjustsments easy. The other technical features are also excellent and the spinn time on the spool is very niece for a fully supplied reel - ready for the field

I will give a full report on it after the weekend but am VERY happy that it is now in my hands

Great you finally got it Jeremy,, pete did a truly fantastic job on these reels, very well thought out and presented, they are the best casting reel ive ever used, the spool grip is just brilliant.
As i mentioned before my PBs took a jump since i started using them hope they can do the same for you..
Let us know how you get on with it the weekend

Here is Peter's email address petercoogan@fsmail.net.

Had my first casts with the reel yesterday afternoon and must say that its been the best money that i have spent on gear in a while. Match to my WR300 I was VERy happy with the practice distances and the way the reel performed. casts where I did my part sent the lead away beautifully and as smooth as silk
