near tramore 15th sept

#1 Post by daithi »

People:meself and davey moo

Duration:3 hours or so from about 11.30 on

Tide:about an hour down and 2 and a half up

Weather:dd calm with a big shiny moon smiling down on us

Bait: mackerel, sandeel, razor
dd
Rigs: pennel pulley

Results:got me a bass 11lb 3oz. davey had a nice painted ray about 6 or 7 lbs

ed

Report: we both had some bait to use up so we decided to head out and see what happened. all was quiet for a while, a couple of small bites that resulted in nowt. we were just about to head back in when my rod got a nice rattle, picked it up and felt the fish so struck and reeled. too much slack line had me panicking so i reeled till i could feel the weight. then the line started darting up and down the beach. yes boy, top hook of the pennel right in the scissors.
that was it for me, davey had a good sized ray on the next cast. not much happened after that. packed up, got back to the car it was dead as a really dead doornail. its still out near tramore. but i got that bass so y'know, freaky deaky, take the good with the bad

oh yeah, thanks to dave greene for the rod. not a bad way to christen it

By any chance was the rod you were using from Mr Greene a Zziplex 2500M all black ("the man in black Johnny Cash") with silver trim??
