Donegal weekend 12/9/08

#1 Post by MackDaddy »

Myself and Bro:

All weekend:

Mack, squid, shrimp and Rag:

Pulleys and single flappers:

7 Thornies, 5 Doggies, 3 Dab, 3 Flounder, 7 coalies, 4 pollock, 2 Corkwing, 1 Tub gurnard :

Headed to Fahan on Sat morning. Wanted to try and get my first ever Ray. Caught 5 thornies between us either side of the slack. Also a few doggies, a flounder, a dab and a nice tub gurnard! Also had good fun on the light spinning rods catching mackeral. (nice fresh bait!)
That evening we went to Lenan Pier and fished from the back of the wall. Plenty of small coalies and pollock. Wee bro got two small Corkwing wrasse also. We were using sliding float rigs and Rag/squid. Got a couple of dab on the bottom after dark then it went quiet.

Next day went back to Fahan for another crack at the Ray. :D Got two thornies, 3 Dogs and a small flounder. Also seen a few Mullet cruising in the shallows as the tide rose.

Hey Mackdaddy, we were in Donegal that weekend, but we we were down at the Gunwell, Killybegs. Not a sniff of any rays down there. Fahan is one of many marks we haven't got to yet. What's the story up there? Were you fishing off the beach?

Yea, just into the deep channel there 2m off shore at low water. Fishing is excellent but a small hike is needed to carry the gear down and across the sand! A well, needs must  Good luck mate, Tight lines
