co down

#1 Post by minty »

People: me and ayman

Duration:12.00 till 16.30

Tide:rising

Weather:mild rain heavy winds

Bait: rag and mack

Rigs: float, pulley and wishbone

Results: blanked

Report:
Headed out to the rocks at the golf course in Ardglass
but due to the high winds only got one cast, and was
being stalked by the resident seal's. Tried the pier but
with all the boats tied up alongside had no space to
fish, few other lads had the only spots free and were
landing plenty of mackeral on prawn. Packed up again
and headed for Strangford only to find the ferry tied up
at the small pier, locals told me there was plenty being
caught if you could get a bait out towards the small
crop of rocks 30 yrds out, but i dont know how to drive
a ferry so it came down to a big 20 yrd cast between
the boats at the side only to have every pick of bait
robbed by some very hungry crabs, with the rain beating
down and wind howling it was time to pack up for the last
time of the day and head home. think i'll be sticking to
the Antrim coast in future, every trip to Co Down has
been a blank in the last year  :x
some times catching crabs is a good thing.........or is it...........?

Bad luck Minty, don't let that put you off mate, there is some great spots along the co down coast, some spots that never fail to produce the goods. I have not made it to ardglass yet, but I hear there is some decent fishing to be had. Weather didn't seem to help you either by the sounds of it
