Re: whats the best scales
One of the most popular scales is the Salter Electro Samson you'll get info on the scales Here You'll get them on ebay or some Irish tackle shops as well. I am hearing good things about the Reuben Heaton 7000 scales but have yet to see one in the flesh. Info Here . Spend the money and get a decent scales.
When you have the scales bring it to the Legal Metrology Office, in Waterford they are in the Northern Ind Est. tel: 051-358020. Give them a ring first and they will tell you what day is best to bring in the scales. Certification here in Cork is usualy done while you wait and is free of charge.

I have a berkeley digital which is OK, as long as you duct-tape the battery cover on. Mine keeps falling off.
