Re: good quality rod,
I have the greys platinum XD. I'm well pleased with it.
I can get 100ft casts with very little effort.

hi anthony2carr, the platium xd is at the top end of the greys -
range , what sort of money did you pay for it, is youre model rated
8/9, the action i presume would be very fast.

Re: good quality rod,
I have the vision gt4 for over a year now. Lovely rod but make sure to keep it washed.. Always wash mine down after every session but still see a bit of rust forming on one of the guides.

Re: good quality rod,
Sorry guys. Haven't been here in a while. Can't really remember how much I paid for it, but I know it was 300 and something? Either 40 or 80. It's a 9wt. I have dealt with some very heavy wrasse and pollock on it.
Haven't had the chance this year though. So much rain and wind the salmon fishing was more tempting.
That has been hard work too. Fished pretty much everyday for the last month. Nothing every other day. but then 3 days in a row ,I caught 3 salmon each day. I think there was too much rain for them this year.

I have a gt4 as well in a #9,it's a nice rod-but as Dave say's the guide rings are prone to corrosion even after rinsing in freshwater after use in the sea!

As Lumpy said it costs €220...But it cost €320 in 2007,this year the importer reduced the r.r.p. by €100!!!

All the best,
Ger
