You guessed it - once you disassemble the faceplate with the plastic ring around the circumference that controls th magnets I think, how do you REassmble it so that the plastic ring isn't freerunning?

Man, these things ain't easy...

i think there might be a youtube video showing how to do all this. have a look and see what comes up

for what it's worth - this was a manufacturing fault in the reel - the plastic thing around the circumference just broke loose from any internal workings mid-cast. less than a year old. Man, those ABU reels just ain't made like they used to be.
