A few of us , including a disabled angler, heading down for a week towards the end of September. I have got plenty of info running a search on the forum but was hoping someone could point me in the direction of a clean bottom beach with easy access not requiring a long walk. Ideally would love to hook into a bass or two and possibly gilt head bream. Will have a car so reasonable distance travel from base in Stradbally will not be a problem. Also, is there any tackle shops in the area which sell fresh or frozen bait?
PM if you prefer, but general info would do as half the fun is trying new marks to see what they throw up.
Many thanks, Alan

Re: Shore Fishing Clonea
alan, clonea has weelchair access at both ends, it can, if needed, also be fished from the car parks over h.w. its a clean surf beach as is the cunn. a few miles away, the spring tides at the end of set. shoud see plenty of bass about. there is a local tack. shop that sells frozen bait and i think barry murphy of this site sells fresh bait, might be a good idea to pm. him.

Many thanks for that information Cortaz. Usually we hit the Kerry coast in September but the past few years has been very poor. Hopefully the Waterford area will put a few more smiles on faces and become an annual event.
i get by with a little help from my friends.

Re: Shore Fishing Clonea
Hi
If Barry can not sort you out try John O'Brien's centre in Waterford City or the other shop up at the New Street car park. Another wheelchair accessible option would be the slipway in tramore over high water but only into darkness... at the back of the town. Stradbally beach is very soft so do not try to drive on it - you can guess how I learned that!
You could also look at the pier at Passage East around high water for general fishing (not bass).
Hope this helps...

Time spent fishing is never time wasted...
2015 targets - a triggerfish, a specimen bass, a three bearded rockling to complete the set and something big and toothy from certain north Mayo deep water marks

Re: Shore Fishing Clonea
Thanks guys. I should have mentioned that the disabled angler is missing an arm but is otherwise fully mobile. Carrying a lot of gear over long distances then becomes a problem and believe me we carry some cr*p with us:) I can relate to the car on soft sand situation only with a slight twist. Sand was hard on Benone strand but we fell asleep and the tide came in
You can guess the rest. Not too many people around at 3 in the morning
