17th august, mid west clare

#1 Post by corbyeire »

People: nthclare, fmd myself

Duration: 4.30pm - 8.30pm

Tide: high round 7

Weather: gusty overcast some bright spells threats of rain but only one heavy shower - vvvv lucky!

Bait: fresh lug, maddies, mack, frozen sandeel

Rigs: 3 hook flappers, single pats

Results: flounder, customer satisfaction!

Report: was after pulling out of a morning session on the low water in the esturary so decided to fish a western facing beach just to get out more than anything

seemed quiet as it was filling - few terns and gulls hitting the water further out - nothing doing on the distance rod

then nthclare got a small flounder

i got one myself shortly after to lug

moved up the high water mark as the undercut soil margin was looking dangerous

got another small flounder to lug

then got a larger one on mack

nth clare headed off

got another larger one to lug again

fmd spun in the waves but no joy - also tried the newly released channel on the ebb  - no joy but it looks like a spot the net men would die for

there were other anglers there knocking out balls of lug for bass - but none seemed to be catching as far as i could make out

headed home stopped in the dolphin chippy - what a great spot - chips 1.70 and a chicken fillet burger 3.30 - no brainer

happy sunday for me!
