Kilcoole estuary

#1 Post by mickmick »

Has anyone ever fished the estuary that flows into the sea between Newcastle and Kilcoole? Where the railway bridge is. I’ve seen people fish the beach at Kilcoole many times while taking the kids for a walk on the beach but I’ve never seen anyone fishing into the estuary, or even into the sea at the outflow. I always thought it looked a fishy spot myself.

I'm reliably told that you can pick up the odd Bass on lures there. Its quite a hike, 1 mile approx, a backpack & light spinning gear is all you would need. On the land side of the bridge, in the tidal pools, there are masses of mullet. easy access under the bridge. I'm not sure if its private property thought.............
